  Helen was born in Milo Township, Delaware County, Iowa on August 5, 1870. Helen never married. Helen was twenty-five when her mother died. After her mother's death she stayed at home to help care for her younger siblings. Martin John was 14, Rosanna 12, and Gerald 7. After her father's death in 1908 she lived, in Manchester, with her sister Rose. Helen died there on April 17, 1916.

  Steven was born in Milo Township, Delaware County, Iowa on August 1, 1871. He was just twenty-four years of age when he died of typhoid fever on September 1, 1895. His mother died just 2 months before his death. His dates are inscribed on the same tombstone as his parents, John McElmeel and Mary Lux McElmeel.

    helped his father raise his two younger siblings after his mother left the family. John operated Hawkeye Truck Lines in Monticello, Iowa before moving to Rockford, Illinois. He is buried near Rockford, Illinois, Route 20, in Calvary Cemetery.

  Lester Pierce died of pneumonia in June of 1906, just a few months before his and Rosanna's youngest son was born. Lester Pierce is buried at Golden Church, Northeast of Ryan, Iowa. In 1917, Rosanna married Louis Calve. he died the following year, 1918. Eighteen years later Rosanna married James Duffy. They had no children together. Both are buried in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ryan, Iowa.

      • James Michael (b. November 12, 1953) -- he married Jeanette Kay McFee on December 30, 1977 in the Immaculate Conception Church in Creston, Iowa. One child - Erin Leanne (b. February 13, 1981). Jim earned an M.A. from the University of Northern Iowa became a probation officer in Rock Island County, Illinois. Jeannie taught in the Davenport, Iowa schools.
